Philosophy of Education

Education opens the door to many opportunities for students. I want my students to remember me because of the positive connection they made with me, not just the subject or grade. One of the many rewarding jobs a teacher has in his or her career is encouraging students to knock on the doors of opportunities in their life. It takes an exceptional educator to be able to motivate, guide, and impact their students.

It is my job as an educator to help each student achieve their fullest potential in the classroom. I want to make a secure and inspiring atmosphere for learning. To have a child reach his or her fullest potential, the classroom environment must feel safe and supporting. Students should feel that they are welcome to share ideas and take risks. In order to have this respect in the classroom there also has to be discipline. My students will partake in managing their own actions and manners with a behavior chart. Students would understand that there are warnings. If the bad behavior continues, a repercussion would be advised. A teacher should act as a guide, allowing his or her own students to explore and take risks in the classroom.

Also, the students would learn to promote respect for their peers from creating classroom rules as a whole to understanding the expected behavior in their classroom. A positive classroom environment would include a constructive teacher to act as a guide. He or she would guide students through their learning, allowing them to explore and experiment with ideas.

Inclusive classrooms today are the norm. An exceptional teacher connects with all her students, including gifted and special needs. Planning a curriculum to allow all students to participate and learn has to include visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning styles. This type of curriculum will help students feel at ease and comfortable to learn in their environment.

Teaching provides an opportunity for continual growth. As much as I will be teaching my students they will be teaching me lessons every day. It is important for students in society today to have a concrete education, but to also work with someone who truly cares about their personal needs to successfully learn. I am this person and I will always strive to become an unforgettable teacher.
